Keth was born in the imperial city of Laikan to very proud parents in the ch’Thon clan. Known for their strategic minds and courage in battle, Keth was trained from a very young age in hand to hand combat by his father; a General in the Defense Force and professor of tactics. Along with his twin sister Tarah, Keth attended the Andorian War College where he graduated in the top 10% of his class. Both he and Tarah joined the Andorian Defense Force together but found their their taste in position to be different. Tarah joined the Idrani, a clan dedicated to the security and protection of the ruling counsil of Andoria. Keth was pressured by his father to represent the family in Starfleet, but he refused, joined instead the combat pilot force, the Avola. Keth proved himself to be a capable pilot and exceptional tactical officer. His Khyzon class interceptor was quick and deadly against the pirates and smugglers they were chasing. In his sister he had a sounding board, someone he could talk to and confide in; his father however never let the Starfleet thing go. It seemed as if his father may have been directing Keth to an opportunity he himself did not take. Keth felt that Starfleet stepped in their own excrement when they started exploring the Gamma Quadrant; especially when they encountered the Dominion. Reports of their duplicity and paranoia reminded Keth of the Romulans. As tensions between Starfleet and the Dominion increased, Starfleet put out a call for experienced personnel. Keth's father implored him to reconsider representing the clan in the battle to come. In the summer of 2373 when the news broke about the Cardassian joining the Dominion, he joined Starfleet through the officer exchange training program. When reports arrived that Deep Space 9 had laid a minefield across the wormhole, Keth was deeply impressed. Even though it was too late to prevent open warfare, he recognized it as an aggressive stratagem and a bold move that forced the Dominion to finally show their hand.
